Caringbah High School’s dance ensembles had a promising and eventful start to 2021. The start-of-year auditions saw the formation of two passionate and excited teams of dancers, meeting weekly on Wednesday mornings to learn choreography, skills and formations that contributed to the creation of their routines. Dancers were fortunate to perform at the Sutherland Dance Festival at the Hurstville Entertainment Centre. In addition, a number of 2020 and 2021 routines were then selected to be showcased at two regional festivals for the Sydney Metropolitan area – In the Spotlight Dance Festival at the Seymour Centre and Synergy Dance Festival at Penrith Panthers.
Unfortunately, the onset of the extended lockdown amidst growing COVID-19 cases interrupted face-to-face learning and the ability to continue running dance classes beyond Term 2. The teaching staff are looking forward to welcoming dancers back in 2022 and are hopeful for a full year of performance opportunities, technical growth and new friendships formed through the art of dance.
