Our students recently had the opportunity to visit the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), where we explored the fascinating world of nuclear science. Throughout the excursion, we participated in live demonstrations showcasing the properties of radiation, shielding techniques, and the advanced technologies used to detect radiation. We also learned about the OPAL multipurpose reactor, gaining insight into its crucial role in nuclear medicine and its impact on society. Additionally, we engaged in discussions about the public perception of nuclear science and the importance of regulating scientific research. This excursion provided us with a deeper understanding of nuclear technology and its applications in everyday life.
