Congratulations to Cate (Year 8) for her achievement of First Place in the Year 8 Category of the 2019Wool4School Design Competition. This Australia-wide design competition encourages problem solving, creative thinking, innovation and STEM skills. The design brief this year was to design a garment or outfit that uses at least 80% wool and embraces the use of technology to enhance garment performance or function.
Cate's design, ‘Style in Symphony’ consisted of four pieces of knitted and woven woollen attire for orchestral musicians, using the technologies of an integrated bluetooth metronome that pulses in time with the conductor’s baton, together with multifunctional LEDs which illuminate in time with the music.
In winning first place in the Year 8 Category Australia-wide, Cate received $500, a pair of Emu Ugg boots, a ‘Frankie’ magazine subscription and a trophy. Congratulations Cate on this outstanding achievement!
