The Open Boys Football team competed in the statewide knockout tournament and made it through to the Sydney East Final. In round 1 the boys pulled off a solid 2-1 win against Kingsgrove HS. Round 2 we faced up against Georges River College in what was an incredibly exciting match. Both teams traded goals and with time almost gone, we trailed 3-2. However, with almost the last kick of the match Ethan (Year 12) scored an incredible 35m shot to tie the scores and send the match into extra time. In extra time we managed to score another great goal and win the match 4-3. In Round 3 we travelled to Centennial Park to play Sydney Boys HS, this was another very tough match in which we trailed 1-0 with only 5 minutes to play. George (Year 10) managed to slot away a great runaway goal to put the game into extra time again, and then he scored another to win the match 2-1. The final was played at Kareela against Woolooware HS. Unfortunately we were missing many of our year 12’s and couple with an early injury in the match, it proved a bit too difficult. Caringbah was the stronger team for the first half, going in 1-1 at the break. Woolooware managed to get on top in the second half and came away with the win, but well done to the team on a great run through the tournament.
