SRC BBQ

SRC Barbeque

This year our first barbeque was a great success. We raised a large amount of money, selling so many sausage rolls that we were sold out just halfway through lunch.

Our monthly BBQs take a lot of preparation. The weeks prior to the day we always have all our food and supplies ordered and ready to go. On Friday period 2 and 3, all that was needed to be done was set up the gas and start cooking. We cooked all of the meat and vegan sausages separately, as well as plenty of onion. Part of our preparation includes stacking the bread with a napkin between each slice, ready and easy for serving.

After the sausages and onion are all cooked, we wrap everything up in aluminium foil to keep it warm, as well as storing extra sausages in ovens in food tech. We also set up the tables and sauces and we’re all ready for serving at lunch.

Overall, this first SRC Barbecue was a huge success. This term’s barbeque was a junior run event, led by mostly the year 10 students. We’re especially proud of the year 8 and 9’s, as this was the first SRC Barbecue for a lot of them. We would like to thank the food tech staff and school’s caretaker for helping us set up the barbeques, and all the planning leading up to the event. We’re looking forward to hosting another school barbeque soon next term.
