Y11 Software Design Students Study UNSW Computer Science course

This semester our Year 11 Software Design students are studying Computer Science at UNSW. Each year a limited number of selected talented students are offered the opportunity to enrol as a UNSW student, whilst still at school, and study COMP1511, the popular first-year computer science course at the University of NSW.

The Computer Science course is not an HSC subject substitution, but a university computing course with the same content as studied by first-year undergraduates at UNSW. Our students who successfully pass the course and subsequently enrol in a UNSW Computing or Engineering degree receive full credit for the course.

This course enables our talented student to pursue a programming career pathway while at school and also experience what University courses are like. The students attend lectures and tutorials after school at Caringbah High School and also view lectures online.

We are also fortunate that the UNSW send a university student out as a tutor to guide the students through the course.
