Germany 2018

Die besten zwei Wochen meines Lebens!      Fantastisch!

So viel Spass!          Traumhaft!

were just some of the comments from the 20 Caringbah students who went to Germany during the October holidays.

Organised by Frau Williamson and accompanied by Mr Cantor and Ms Pollock , twenty  Yr 11, Yr 10 and Yr 9 students set off excitedly for their first real experience of German language and culture.

The first week was a whirlwind of sightseeing with some of the highlights being the Allianz Arena in Munich, the Ulm Cathedral, spectacular Neuschwanstein Castle and the magnificent mountain scenery of southern Bavaria, notably the Zugspitze at 2962m. On a bike tour in Freiburg, the students learnt firsthand why Germany is a world leader in innovative environmental initiatives.

Friday October 5 brought the group eventually to Raubling where they were to meet their host families for the first time. Understandably, many were nervous as they wondered whether they would understand the Germans. However, all fears were allayed at the sight of the friendly welcoming faces who were waiting outside the local school, Gymnasium Raubling.

The second week passed by in a flurry of German experiences – hiking, attending school, visiting beautiful Salzburg, marvelling at more of King Ludwig`s palaces and consuming copious quantities of Brezeln, Pommes and Mezzomix.

All too soon the trip was at an end and judging by the happy smiling faces it was not hard to see that everyone had enjoyed an unforgettable experience!
